ALTOONA, Iowa – Two people were sent to the hospital after a crash in Altoona early Wednesday morning.

Emergency responders were dispatched to Adventureland Drive and NE Hubbell Avenue at 3:37 a.m. on the crash, according to Lt. Alyssa Wilson with the Altoona Police Department.

A sedan was traveling southbound on NE Hubbell when an SUV took a wide turn from Adventureland Dr., crossed the median, and continued going northbound in the southbound lanes. The SUV then struck the sedan head-on.

Lt. Wilson said it appeared the driver of the SUV was having a medical issue that caused the crash. The driver and a passenger were transported to a local hospital. Their conditions are not known.

Altoona crews were assisted with the crash response by Bondurant first responders.
