Drake Relays: Mile runners from around the US converge on Des Moines for Grand Blue Mile
DES MOINES, Iowa — Some of the best mile runners in the country converged on Des Moines Tuesday for the 15th annual Grand Blue Mile. In the USA Track & Field women's division, Rachel McArthur, of Blacksburg, Virginia, won the event with a 4:33. For the men, Vincent Ciattei, of Baltimore, Maryland, won with a time of 3:56.96, less than a second from the current world record of 3:56.13 set by American Hobbs Kessler in October 2023. The time did set a course record for the Grand Blue Mile. This was Ciattei's second win in three years at the Grand Blue Mile.
