'Tossed and Found' announces Charitable Grant recipients
Elma, IA.-- The the Tossed & Found thrift store announced the recipients of its March 2024 Charitable Grant Program. The non-profit store opened in mid-year 2008 and is under the fiscal oversight of The BRIDGE Organization Inc. Located at 321 Main Street, across from Security State Bank, the store accepts donations of good, used items, then resells them with net proceeds given out to 501c3 non-profit or government entity groups in the communities of Elma, Alta Vista, Lourdes & Riceville for community better projects & programs. Grants are awarded in two annual grant cycles each year-- March and September. The 2024 March cycle resulted in a total of $5000 being awarded to qualified applicants/projects and since 2008 the store has awarded over $38,000 toward community projects, as well as purchasing over $26,500 in “Welcome to Elma “ banners and donating over $550 in its annual Kid’s Shopping Day each December for local youth.
Postville man pleads guilty to causing death of child
POSTVILLE, Iowa (KCRG) - A Postville man has pled guilty to causing the death of his child. Crews responded to a residence on 245th Street back on September 2nd, 2022, for a report of an unresponsive 4-month-old. The child was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
