In Wakulla County, the Sheriff's Office has inaugurated the WCSO Explorers program, a forward-thinking initiative that supports young adults between 14-21 years old with a keen interest in law enforcement careers. This program is an integral part of a broader statewide effort to introduce the youth to law enforcement careers. Through the WCSO Explorers, participants gain valuable practical experience, learn leadership skills, and get an early insight into the world of policing, which serves as a strong foundation for their future at the police academy.

The explorer program helps encourage youth to pursue careers in law enforcement, which many agencies around the state are currently experiencing shortages in.

ENTER DATELINE — It's been a very wet and dreary day across the Big Bend and Southern Georgia, with long periods of steady rain across the region. In the past 24 hours, radar estimates of up to 10 inches of rain have fallen in parts of Wakulla county, with more rain on the way. A Flood Watch is now in effect for most areas west of the I-75 corridor, including Bainbridge, Tallahassee, Thomasville, Valdosta, and Madison. This is due to excessive rainfall that has already fallen, with more rain expected. Low lying areas are especially vulnerable to flooding.

Two incidents occurred in Tallahassee, Florida this week. In the first incident, a 28-year-old man died in a crash in Gadsden County. He failed to make a curve while traveling on Old Federal Rd, causing the car to go off the road and ejecting him from the vehicle.
