West Central School Board to Discuss Transportation Efficiency and Food Services This Wednesday
Nutrition and transportation are two of the main topics on the agenda for West Central’s next Board of Education meeting, informs Superintendent Eric Lawson:. “We will have some updates on food and nutrition and we will have some transportation updates as well. I just scheduled a transportation meeting, our bus lease is coming up here in December, so we are trying to make a decision to whether we want to renew our lease or if we are going to consider subcontracting our service to a third party vendor. We are really doing a deep dive on transportation operations to make sure we are as efficient as we possibly can. We are deficit spending on transportation, so we want to make sure we are maximizing our computer software, maximizing our drivers, and their route capabilities as much as we possibly can.”

Sophomore QB, pair of pick-sixes lift Kennedy past Bettendorf
CEDAR RAPIDS — Kennedy Coach Brian White saw it pregame. His team looked primed for a big night. Boy, were they. Cedar Rapids Kennedy (5-3) played near-perfect football in a 37-0 rout of Bettendorf (5-3) on Friday at Kingston Stadium, keeping the Cougars’ playoff hopes alive. “I thought our kids were ready to play,” White said. “I could tell pregame, they just had a little edge about ‘em. We’ve talked about trying to play a perfect game. You’re never going to play a perfect game, but eliminate as many mistakes as possible. We were pretty clean the first half, especially offensively. And our defense had a shutout.” Leading 14-0 at halftime, Kennedy took command with pick-sixes by Adam Strasburger and Jack Hayes early in the third quarter. The Cougars’ defense forced four turnovers, including three interceptions of Bettendorf quarterback Cannon Davis. “You go out and get two pick-sixes … it was just a crazy chain of events to start the second half,” White said. “Our defensive coaches did a great job of putting a gameplan together. They’re good defensive coaches, and they put in something specific for this week. This kid’s (Davis) a great thrower — he leads 5A in
