Convicted killer accused in Waynesboro stabbing gets $25,000 bond
WAYNESBORO — Cleavon O. Wilson was just 15 years old when he gunned down a man on Stafford Street in Staunton in 1990. Charged as an adult, he was sentenced to 40 years in prison for murder, and also was given a five-year term for cocaine distribution out of Waynesboro, where he lived at the time after moving to the area from Brooklyn, New York.

Lady Colonels fall in extra innings thriller against Nelson
Winners of three of their last four games, Altavista hit the road once again as they faced off with Nelson County in a Dogwood District softball clash. This past Friday (April 19) in Lovingston it took extra innings to settle this contest as Nelson ultimately rallied to defeat Altavista 9-8 in a walk-off thriller. The Lady Colonels (3-7) stormed back after an early 6-1 deficit to tie the game in their last at-bat in the seventh inning thanks to Riley Stinnette, who came up with a clutch two-run double to send the game into extra innings. Nelson countered with two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to win it on an RBI single from Maddie Casey (2-5, 2 RBI’s) to give the Governors (1-10) their first victory of the season.
