Missoula and Red Lodge Improve Glass Recycling Programs in Montana
In January of 2024, the Missoula Current published an article about the increase in access and interest of glass recycling in Missoula. The article cites that Missoula-based non-profit, Recycling Works, is the only business in western Montana to recycle glass. In May of 2020, the Red Lodge Recycling Center began to work in conjunction with Recycling Works to provide access to glass recycling for residents and businesses in and around Red Lodge.
Phase 2 of train derailment cleanup announced
Unified Command for the Stillwater Train Derailment released the Phase 2 cleanup plan on Friday, Feb.16, detailing the second phase of cleanup. Phase 1 of cleanup included the immediate aftermath of the derailment, the emergency response stage and transitions in August 2023 to maintenance operations. These maintenance operations allowed land crews and small boats to continue recovering asphalt on a reduced scale throughout the fall and winter.

Lady Herders win fifth consecutive 4B District championship
The Lady Herders are on a roll. The girls fought hard throughout the district tournament to come out on top and advance to divisional play. The Sweet Grass County girls basketball team won their first district tournament game against Roundup High School on Wednesday, February 14, 64 to 19. The outcome of the Valentine’s Day game was similar to the Lady Herders’ pre-districts 67 to 11 win against Roundup on February 9.
