UPDATE: AFD battles North Abilene bedroom house fire

ABILENE, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) – The Abilene Fire Department (AFD) battled a North Abilene house fire Monday night between the Westwood Richland and Dyess areas of town.

In a press release late Monday night, AFD said fire crews were dispatched out to a house fire at around 8:40 p.m. Those firefighters arrived to heavy smoke and flames emitting from a bedroom window.

When AFD entered the home that bedroom was fully involved in flames. Firefighters contained the fire quickly and extinguished it. This fire caused “ significant heat and smoke damage throughout the structure .”

Thankfully, nobody was home when AFD arrived and no injuries were reported. While a cause is being investigated, AFD estimated damages to be $10,000.
