Are you a fan of horror movies? Well, the much-anticipated haunting thriller, Candlewood was filmed in New Milford, Connecticut. Candlewood Lake is a manmade lake located in Fairfield and Litchfield counties of Western Connecticut. New Milford was not just a location to shoot a movie, but instead a central character in the film. Candlewood takes common horror themes and wraps them around local legends that belong to the town.

The Legend of Lovers Leap "Many who visit Lovers Leap State Park wonder about how the park acquired its name, and this is all down to the story of a local Native American leader, and her English lover, who left her but intended to return one day. In despair about his absence, the woman threw herself, and her birch canoe, into the Housatonic River, just as her lover was returning to her. Even though he dived in to try and save her, legend has it that neither of them ended up surviving." Taken from the Orogold Stores official website. According to the state's official website CT ''Across the bridge the Lovers Leap Trail heads southeast 1,200 feet to the rock formation that gives the park its name. From here, tradition has it, that the Pootatuck Indian Chief Waramaug's daughter, Princess Lillinonah, and her lover plunged to their deaths. The Chief himself died in 1735."

The movie tells the story of a blended family that moves from New York City to a small, isolated town in Connecticut during the pandemic. Once they are living there, a local urban legend wreaks havoc, fracturing their family dynamic and causing them to go insane. The family starts to experience some strange occurrences, both in terms of people and events that transpire. "Without spoiling too much, their already rocky family vibe is thrown into major chaos by a local urban legend and many crazy things start to happen to them and around them, according to IMDB.

When they move, local legends of Lover's Leap in New Milford and the underwater town of Jerusalem at the bottom of Candlewood Lake, begin to compound with daily life as New York transplants begin to get killed off. As with most legends, there is both fact and fiction attributed to most of them." Taken from the News Times website.

The movie stars Carolyn McCormick (Maude Sherman) Joel Bryant (Kevin Barrington) Lisann Valentin (Veronica Barrington) Jeffrey Alan Solomon (Elijah Boardman) Isabel Lysiak (Sarah Barrington) Coulter Ibanez (Matteo Morales) Jessica Altchiler (Brandi Boardman) Armen Garo (Suicidal Father) Jeanine Flynn (Marla Gibbons) Lisa Hinds (Lisa, Cashier) and Directed by Myke Furhman. The film is due to be released by the end of 2023.

Lover's Leap, as I understand it, is about 2 teenagers that wanted to get married and her father wouldn't let them, back in the early 70's. Since they loved each other so much and didn't want to be apart, both of them jumped to their death so they would always be together. They man jumped first, the lady was hesitant, but after a few minutes she jumped after him.
