COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A person is dead after a shooting in south Columbus Thursday afternoon. Emergency dispatchers confirmed that a person died after being shot near Heyl and Reinhard Avenues in Karns Park shortly after 3 p.m. Dispatchers did not have information on the victim’s identity, or a possible suspect, as of 5 p.m.

A woman who drove a teenager to a February 2022 meeting with a man that ended with the man being fatally shot learned her fate Thursday in Franklin County Common Pleas Court. Dashay Avery, 25, had previously pleaded guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter and aggravated robbery.
