COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — A 20-year-old man has died after a shooting in south Columbus on Thursday.

Emergency dispatchers responded to the 700 block of Reinhard Avenue at about 3:01 p.m. on Thursday after report of a shooting, according to the Columbus Division of Police. Officers found Najaa Ellman, 20, suffering from a gunshot wound, and was pronounced dead on the scene at 3:08 p.m.

Police said Ellman was with friends when an argument began between the 20-year-old and 19-year-old Lawuan Williams, who pulled out a gun and fatally shot Ellman. Williams then fled the scene in a 2020 gray Nissan Altima, as an unidentified person fired shots in his direction.

Police said the Nissan was later recovered by officers near the intersection of E. Livingston Avenue and Kenilworth Place. Williams, who had been hiding in a nearby residence, surrendered to officers. The 19-year-old has been charged with murder, and police are asking anyone with additional information to call 614-645-4221.
