A funeral service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 10:30 am. The clergy will be Chaplain Noel Wetter. Interment will be at the Northstar EUB Cemetery in rural Springfield, MN.
Winthrop man sentenced for DWI arrest after 100 mph chase through Morton
A Winthrop man, Damon Jon Muchow, age 33, was sentenced in Redwood County Court for leading police on a high speed chase through Redwood County last October. According to court documents, shortly after midnight on Oct. 15 a Lower Sioux Police officer noted a vehicle driving along County Road 2 at a high rate of speed. The driver responded by accelerating onto Highway 71, then east onto Highway 91, into a ditch and back onto the road, and through Morton at high speed. At times the vehicle exceeded 100 mph before finally stopping near mile marker 85.
Charges: Man played fake detective before showing handcuffs & threatening to detain victim
Police say a man played a fake private detective before he followed a woman out of a Mountain Lake gas station and threatened to detain her with the handcuffs he was carrying. Jason James Lambright, 46, was charged last week with felony false imprisonment and gross misdemeanor unlicensed private detective in Cottonwood County Court.

The Brown County Historical Society celebrates historical homes
NEW ULM, Minn. (KEYC) - The Brown County Historical Society is holding a program to celebrate historical houses in the county. The program will be held on Thursday May 9th starting with a dinner at 6 p.m., but main portion will be at 7 pm. at Turner Hall in New Ulm. Tickets cost $30 per person and can be purchased at the Brown County Historical Society Museum or at the New Ulm Chamber of Commerce until Friday May 3rd.
