Woman dies after single-vehicle accident in Vienna
VIENNA — A woman is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Vienna early Tuesday morning and a firefighter sustained a minor injury. According to a supervisor at the Wood County 911 dispatch center who identified themselves only as Operator 48, a call for a single-vehicle crash came in at 4:08 a.m. Tuesday.
Man dies after jumping from Belpre Bridge
PARKERSBURG — A man died Sunday after jumping from the Belpre Bridge, police said. The incident was reported around 12:15 p.m. Parkersburg Police responded, along with the Parkersburg Fire Department and local EMTs, Police Chief Matthew Board said.

Ohio opens applications for recreational marijuana sales
MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - Legal, recreational cannabis could be available to adults 21 and over across the state of Ohio in the near future. On Friday, the Ohio Division of Cannabis control opened applications for dual-use licenses for cannabis dispensaries. Dual-uses licenses would allow existing medical marijuana dispensaries to start selling adult use cannabis to non-medical consumers.

More than 20 years ago, J.B. Thomas of Little Hocking took his three young grandchildren, Breana, Joselina and Noah Fullerton to Stacy’s Farm in Marietta to pick strawberries. It became a family tradition for them each spring for many years and a highlight for the grandchildren and papaw. Afterward they would go to McDonald’s for ice cream. This year for Fathers Day, on May 23, the three grandkids, now adults, and their spouses wished him a Happy Fathers Day and took their 86-year-old grandfather Thomas to Stacy’s Farm and surprised him with strawberry picking to recreate one of their favorite childhood memories. SHS Alumni Awards Reception
New this year Under the Big Top’s Alumni Awards Reception was held on Saturday night replacing the traditional banquet. By all accounts, the new event was a big success. Two of the highlights of the night were the amazing appetizers and desserts catered by Rivers Edge of St. Marys, and music provided by Remedy. Alumni Historian Jamie Hissam presented awards to parade winners and chapel speakers. Winning the 1st place float was the Class of 1979. The 2nd place float went to the Class of 1974 and 3rd place and the President’s Choice award went to the Class of 1984. Chapel speaker winner for SHS was Brent Ash, Class of 1984 and Tyler Consolidated Chapel Speaker winner was Alexis Billings, Class of 2004. The non-Alumni float winner was Angela Watson’s Face Painting.
