Ohio TE Grant Houser commits to Louisville
Louisville football added to its 2025 recruiting class on Thursday as Wapakoneta (Ohio) High School tight end Grant Houser announced his commitment to the Cardinals. A 6-foot-5, 230-pound three-star prospect, Houser, who visited Louisville over the weekend, chose the Cardinals over additional scholarships from Air Force, Arkansas State, Army, Central Michigan, Connecticut, Cornell, Eastern Michigan, Miami of Ohio, Navy, Toledo and others.
Campaign underway in Wapakoneta to support law enforcement
WAPAKONETA — Canned goods may be exchanged for blue light bulbs as part of a campaign currently underway in Wapakoneta to recognize local law enforcement. Canned goods are being accepted at the office of the Auglaize County Commissioners, 209 S. Blackhoof St., and at Auglaize Embroidery, 4 N. Wood St., through May 17.
Softball: Four area teams earn top-10 D-IV seeds
Fort Loramie and Russia earned the highest seeds of any area softball quad, and Botkins and Houston also earned top 10 seeds in the 21-team Dayton Division IV sectional. Softball tournament draw meetings were held throughout the state on Sunday. Seed voting began online early last week and concluded on Saturday. Results were tallied in preparation for Sunday’s meetings, during which teams placed themselves on their sectionals’ brackets by seed order.
Leaders from multiple Wapakoneta churches celebrate National Day of Prayer in unity
AUGLAIZE COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - In Auglaize County, the Wapakoneta Area Ministerial Association held its annual Day of Prayer celebration outside of the fire station. The religious leaders from the different Wapakoneta churches took turns saying prayers for nine segments of our country, like the military, families, and the church itself. But even though they come from different religious backgrounds, they are unified when it comes to praying over where they live.
Prep roundup: Elwer blanks Coldwater in MAC showdown
Cameron Elwer threw a one-hit shutout for the Blue Jays. He struck out seven batters and walked one. Tyce McClain and Braylon Metzger each had three hits in the win. Brady Basinger got the win in six innings for Columbus Grove and Kyle Hopkins worked around a hit and a walk to pick up the save.
