Fire extinguished in Norwich
Norwich ― Firefighters extinguished a fire Saturday at a multi-family mixed-use property at 277 Central Ave. that was found in the wall of an attached porch. Norwich and Taftville firefighters were called out for reports of the fire at 1:50 p.m. and arrived to find heavy smoke at the rear of the building, Norwich Fire Battalion Chief Mark Benjamin said.

Gas prices in region run gamut from high to higher
For a while Thursday, the Xpress Fuel station at 338 Route 12 in Groton had some of the cheapest gas around. When a reporter pulled into the station at 2:30 p.m., Xpress was selling the stuff for $3.39 a gallon, 30 cents less than the daily average in the New London-Norwich metropolitan area, according to AAA.
