DNA on beer bottle leads police to burglary suspect
DNA on beer bottles left at two burglaries in St. Peter last summer led police to their suspect. St. Peter police were called to a home on the morning of June 16, 2023 for a report of a burglary. The husband told police he and his wife woke up that morning to find the kitchen window screen had been damaged. The man then discovered that someone had gone through cabinets, drawers, and dressers and taken a wide variety of items, according to a criminal complaint.
Franklin man found guilty of violent threats and disorderly conduct against former employer
A Franklin man, Jesse Lamont Jackson, has been found guilty of threats of violence and disorderly conduct against a former employer. According to the Redwood County Attorney’s Office, on Dec. 7, 2022 law enforcement received a 911 call reporting Jackson had threatened to kill and beat up two people at an area business. Court documents state Jackson had been fired from that business for being unreliable. Jackson had an outstanding bill with that business, and the amount had been taken from his final paycheck.

Highway 4 construction is underway
MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - As April winds to an end, construction season is beginning anew, with projects starting up across Minnesota. One of the larger projects is actually two: Highway 4 from Sherburn to St. James and St. James to Sleepy Eye are technically two separate projects that together span nearly 50 miles of Highway 4.

Woman found dead in home after early Tuesday fire in St. Peter
An elderly woman was found dead in her home, apparently killed in an early Tuesday fire, according to St. Peter law enforcement. St. Peter Police Chief Matt Grochow told the St. Peter Herald that, "As a result of the fire, a person had been found deceased inside the residence, and that investigation continues.
