District staffer remains on administrative leave
Limited information has been confirmed about the paid administrative leave of a St. Joseph School District staffer earlier this month. News-Press NOW filed a Missouri Sunshine Law request about the case on Monday, seeking all records about the case. Until the name of the staffer and any allegations affecting them are confirmed, that name will not be reported. The district has said the administrative leave affects only one staffer at this time.

Princeton Native to Retire from MSHP After 28 Years of Service
ST. JOSEPH, MO – Lieutenant W. Shane Sims with Troop H of the Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Joseph will retire on June 1st after serving more than 28 years. Sims was appointed to the Patrol on January 1st, 1996, as a member of the 71st Recruit Class. Upon completing his training at the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop H, Zone 2, covering Nodaway and Worth counties. In 2001, Sims was promoted to corporal and served as the assistant zone supervisor in Zone 9 in Livingston County. In 2004, he was promoted to sergeant and designated zone supervisor of Zone 2, Nodaway and Worth counties. In 2012, Sims became a commercial vehicle enforcement trooper and was named supervisor of the Troop H Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2014 and remained assigned to Troop H.

For one local couple from St. Joseph, they are helping children in Guatemala who come from poverty abandonment or who are orphaned through death. Cole and Sarah McCauley have been helping children in Santa Cruz Del Quiche, Guatemala, at their child rescue ministry, Casa Di Me Padre, to learn English, how to play music, how to cook and other life skills they will need to be successful later in life.
