Bluffwoods Renaissance Festival returning for 2nd year at St. Joseph
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Bluffwoods Renaissance Festival has returned for their second year in St. Joseph, and this year was filled with fun costumes, delicious food, and local vendors selling all sorts of fantasy related items. Duke Von Jon, the festival's host, said, "We have pyro dancers, we have belly dancers, we have singers. We have musicians traveling from all over the world. We have glorious, delicious delectable foods like turkey legs, of course, but there's scotch eggs and all kinds of different cuisine from different countries. It's quite marvelous."
Teen drivers encouraged to register for summer course
The St. Joseph Safety and Health Council is noticing a lack of teenagers signed up for its summer driving program for the first time. Many reasons could be behind why there is a decrease in teenagers signing up for courses to obtain a driver’s license, including a growing trend that shows teenagers are not immediately choosing to get their driver's licenses. The most recent data from the Federal Highway Administration shows that 25% of 16-year-olds obtained their licenses in 2021, compared to the 46% of people the same age in 1983.

(KMAland) -- Savannah’s Cole Horton was in dominant form Saturday on his way to winning the Class 1 singles state championship. Horton won 6-0, 6-0 in the semifinals and 6-2, 6-0 in the final to claim the state title. In doubles, Maryville’s Jaxson Staples and Kason Teale teamed up to finish in fifth place, beating Savannah’s Noah Gould and Brighton Kurre in a consolation semifinal before winning in tiebreak fashion in the fifth place match.
Shots fired, no one hurt at Frog Hop in St. Joseph
St. Joseph police are investigating a shooting in the parking lot behind the Frog Hop at 2001 Messanie Street. Police say it appears unknown subjects shot into the air from the parking lot. Officers recovered two shell casings. No one was harmed in the shooting. No property damage has been discovered.

Police identify one injured in stabbing
One person sustained non-life-threatening injuries following a stabbing in the area of 13th and Hickory streets on Wednesday morning. The initial 911 call came in around 1:08 a.m., according to the St. Joseph Police Department.

Assault, robbery lead to police standoff
An overnight standoff ended with one person surrendering to police at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. A domestic assault and robbery call at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday later led police to the area of 24th and Felix streets with a standoff starting at about midnight, according to the St. Joseph Police Department.
