Downtown construction season begins in Waconia
Construction of Waconia’s latest major downtown project is anticipated to begin this week. The city was out earlier in April distributing memos and information such as project area map, construction schedules, and parking lot access to affected businesses and property owners. Stage 1 work includes Main Street from just east of Elm Street to Spruce Street, and Pine Street and Spruce Street from Main to First Street. Pennies and pies in Watertown
Every year Watertown-Mayer Middle School Student Council rallies students to “penny up”. Throughout the month of March, each grade brings in change, checks, and paper currency to compete with one another in friendly competition called “Penny Wars” all for the cause of raising awareness and money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This year, students could also donate money to place their name in a bucket to “pie” a staff member in the face! One student was chosen from each grade and they got to choose their target. Students smashed their goal and raised just under $5,000!! The grand finale was the opportunity to have your name drawn to pie the principal, Mr. Guertin!

Waconia teachers staged another rally Monday night before the ISD 110 school board meeting as the two parties approach the 11th month along with the end of the 2023-2024 school year without a contract.
