Three injured during crash in Le Sueur
LE SUEUR, Minn. (KEYC) - An SUV crashed into a sedan on Highway 169 in Le Sueur at around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. 25-year-old Ashlynn Nicole Hodges of New Prague was heading northbound when her 2015 Jeep Cherokee crashed into a 2008 Buick LaCrosse entering northbound driven by 88-year-old Cletius Irene Puhrmann of Fridley.
Freshwater Furniture finds fresh location
Volunteers at Freshwater Furniture Depot in Waconia are accustomed to handling and moving lots of furniture. Now they are moving the whole store. The thrift shop furniture store, a mission of Freshwater Church, has relocated from its spot on Eighth Street just south of Highway 5 to a much larger location downtown in Waconia Square at 235 West Main Street – just across the parking lot from the church. Saturday, May 11 was beautiful for fishing and shopping as the state marked the annual Fishing Opener and the Waconia Chamber of Commerce and participating businesses staged their 20th annual Sister Saturday. Typically held over the Fishing Opener and Mother’s Day weekend, the shopping and entertainment day involved over 30 participating businesses. Association honors Mackenthun’s for Minnesota-grown, hunger initiatives
Mackenthun’s Fine Foods of Waconia was among the honorees at the Minnesota Grocers Association (MGA) Champions Luncheon held on Tuesday, April 16 at the Omni Viking Lakes Hotel in Eagan. This event showcases from, farm to fork, the Minnesota food industry’s positive impact on our communities. The afternoon highlighted the accomplishments of those engaged in all aspects of the Minnesota food industry. Mackenthun’s took regional honors in the Minnesota Grown program recognizing grocers that bring local products to market. The Waconia family grocer also was recognized with a Bag Hunger Campaign “Silver Plate Award” for community hunger support. The MGA’s 2023 campaign donated more than 1.5 million meals across the state, and in the last 15 years has provided over 44 million meals to hungry families in Minnesota.
Westonka golfers hit the greens in Jordan, Hopkins
The Mound Westonka boys golf team had two meets last week. The first was Lord Nelson’s Classic at the Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan on May 7.
