Driver charged in multiple crashes
Just after midnight on April 29, Urbana Police and Fire Divisions were dispatched to a multi-vehicle injury crash in the 400 block of North Kenton Street. It was reported that the lone driver, who was involved in the crash, was injured and trapped. Upon officers’ arrival at 12:08 a.m., they learned that there was only one driver involved, and that he’d allegedly been traveling at an extreme high rate of speed while northbound on Kenton Street, when he and the vehicle he was operating crashed into two parked vehicles in front of 421 and 425 North Kenton Street.
Prosecution, defense give opening statements in deadly school bus crash trial
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WKEF) -- The prosecution and defense on Tuesday gave opening statements in the trial of a man who is accused of causing a deadly school bus crash. Hermanio Joseph, 36, is facing an involuntary manslaughter charge after the Aug. 22, 2023, crash. SIDNEY – The following construction projects are anticipated to affect state highways in Champaign County. All outlined work is weather permitting. State Route 245 Lane Closure – Expect intermittent lane closures on SR 245 between the SR 29 and German Street from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting Monday, April 22 through Monday, Sept. 30. Traffic will be maintained through a flagging operation. Crews will be chip sealing the roadway.
