CHICAGO — A Cook County judge today signed an arrest warrant for an Aurora man in connection with the murder last weekend of off-duty Chicago Police Officer Luis Huesca. Xavier Tate Jr., 22, is charged with one count of first-degree murder, according to Cook County court records. The warrant, signed by Judge Peggy Chiampas, accuses Tate of shooting Huesca with a .40-caliber handgun and seeks nationwide extradition. CPD has not announced any arrests in the case.

ELGIN, Ill. - A suburban man pleaded guilty to murdering his wife and leaving her body with their two young children in 2021 in Elgin. Victor Ayllon, 38, entered a guilty plea for first-degree murder Thursday in Kane County court.
