Sewer projects continue in Wood County communities
The Northwestern Water and Sewer District has announced infrastructure improvement projects totaling more than $11.3 million. Through July, intermittent lane restrictions are possible in various locations throughout Northwood as part of an $830,000 sewer lining project. In Northwood, Farnstead Drive is closed between Tracy Road and Sheffield Place for waterline replacement through September. Residential access will be maintained. The project will cost $978,000. In Perrysburg Township, intermittent lane restrictions are possible through September throughout the Starbright subdivision for sewer rehabilitation. That project will cost $863,000.
Adopt a dog at a discount at Wood County shelter
BOWLING GREEN — A week-long adoption event is going on at the Wood County Dog Shelter, 1912 E. Gypsy Lane Rd. National Adopt-a-Shelter-Pet Day is recognized annually on April 30, to raise awareness for the thousands of pets that are waiting for and needing adoptions from shelters. Wood County is honoring that day with an adoption event this week. The dog adoption fee of $75 is reduced to $25, and adopters will be provided with a goodie bag. Adopters are encouraged to bring their entire household, dogs included, to meet the dogs before adopting. Adopters must purchase a $14 dog license. Weston Doctor Sentenced to 10 Years for Running Pill Mill and Illegally Dispensing Controlled Substances
A 72-year-old Weston doctor has been sentenced to a decade behind bars following his conviction on charges of unlawfully dispensing a vast quantity of controlled substances. Dr. Osmin Morales, as noted in a statement by United States Attorney's Office, received a 10-year federal prison sentence on April 25, for his role in operating a pill mill type clinic.
Wood County Dog Shelter offering week-long adoption discounts
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Tuesday marks National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day and staff at the Wood County Dog Shelter says there's reason to celebrate. The shelter is able to house up to 42 dogs on-site. As of Monday, the shelter has 12 dogs either at the facility or in foster care.
