"Ramp"ing up: The delicate art of cooking and cultivating the wild allium
It’s that time of year when the beloved wild allium, the ramp, is in season — but don’t blink, because their green leaves will be gone before you know it. Also known as wild leeks, ramps taste like you rubbed a pungent head of garlic all over an onion. Local farms recognize that ramps have become all the rage in the food scene, emphasizing that to keep this onion’s cousin around, there are important things to remember. Clay Hill Farms, 2848 N. From sports injuries to falls, painful dislocations can happen when your joints get out of whack
The foot bone’s connected to the leg bone and the leg bone’s connected to the knee bone. Bones are connected at a joint, which is held together by ligaments. If two bones get separated, that’s a dislocation. “A dislocation of a joint is a ligamentous injury,” explained Bruce Heck, an orthopedic surgeon in Findlay. “It is basically a disruption of the ligaments around the joint, as opposed to a fracture, which is a disruption of the bone.” The most common places to experience a dislocated joint are the shoulder and fingers – the shoulder is a dynamic ball-and-socket joint, and each finger has three joints, Dr. Heck said.

Findlay resident Kiesel to run 100th and final marathon in Toledo
Deanna Kiesel will never forget the feeling she had when she completed her first marathon 36 years ago in Columbus. “I came across the finish line and I said ‘never again,’” Kiesel said with a laugh. “I am never doing that again.” Turns out that feeling and mentality didn’t last very long. In fact, the Findlay resident has dedicated her life to running, and she will add another memorable moment to her remarkable journey on Sunday. Kiesel will be running in her 100th and final marathon when she tours Toledo in the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon. It will be the 1,230th race that the 60-year-old Tiffin native has taken part in — “That includes 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons, marathons, triathlons, ultra marathons. I have kept track from day one,” she said — and she is looking forward to spending it with friends before, during, and after the event.
