JACKSON, Miss. — U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson is calling for a federal investigation into the disappearance of a Jackson woman who has been missing almost a year. Latasha Crump Coleman, 46, hasn’t been seen since last July. Thompson said Coleman’s family approached him, worried that the case would go cold. Former MBI officer pleads guilty to using excessive force
JACKSON, Miss. — A former Mississippi Bureau of Investigation officer assigned to a U.S. Marshals task force has pleaded guilty to using excessive force. WAPT reported in September 2021 that a Ring doorbell camera recorded video of a handcuffed teenager outside a Jackson home. The video shows the federal task force with several people who were detained for questioning about a murder. At one point, John Winstead punched then-17-year-old Kevin Harris in the face.
