SOKY Alliance is bringing events and resources to LGBTQ+ community of southern Kentucky
A new Bowling Green organization is working to bring the LGBTQ+ community of southern Kentucky together during Pride month.The SOKY Alliance formed in March. The group’s mission is to bring educational programming, events and awareness to the LGBTQ+ community in southern Kentucky. In its infancy, the group consists of a five-person leadership committee and a director, but has plans to grow into a larger organization.

In Warren County, they ranked fourth among the most food insecure counties in the state, with nearly 20,000 people having a lack of nutritious diets. Experts say it’s because of population density.
Budget constraints slows rebuilding plans for Ed Spear Park
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -WBKO received a tip from a viewer about an ongoing situation at Ed Spear Park in Smiths Grove. According to Director of Warren County Parks and Recreation, Chris Kummer, the damage was done to the park last year after a microburst storm in June brought destructive winds, knocking down nearly 40 trees.
Bowling Green sees an increase in the city budget for the 2025 fiscal year
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - This year’s general fund for the 2025 fiscal year is comprised of $107.3 million, while the all-funds budget is roughly $176 million. Considerations for the budget are based on a Strategic Plan consisting of eight pillars: strong neighborhoods, transportation, city employee development, housing development, efficient government, downtown development, riverfront and greenways, and other significant projects.

Area Tourism departments launch the Western Kentucky Wine Trail
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Area tourism departments, including Warren County and surrounding areas are partnering together to launch the first ever Western Kentucky Wine Trail. Six tourism departments have come up with a list of nine wineries across Western Kentucky to complete the trail. The wineries include Bluegrass Vineyard (Warren Co.), Buckhorn Creek Vineyard (Marshall Co.), Carriage House Vineyards (Logan Co.), Fancy Farm Vineyard & Winery (Graves Co.), Naimoli Estate (Christian Co.), Poca Terra Winery (Marshall Co.), Purple Toad Winery (Mccracken Co.), Reid’s Livery Winery (Warren Co.), and Traveler’s Cellar Winery (Warren Co.).
