YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — The discussion continues for a safety service building in Youngstown.

Former mayor Jay Williams was in town last weekend for the Men’s Rally in the Valley and spoke with First News on the topic.

He knows the police station attached to city hall is old, and he realizes other cities have created centrally located safety service buildings. He said he is watching the situation to see how it works out in Youngstown.

“I am hopeful that something will be worked out,” Williams said. “But yeah, things like that are signs of a city that is progressing, that has to think differently about the allocation of its resources.”

Youngstown City Council approved spending one and a half million dollars for a study by architects on the plan last week.
