The Cross County Center prepares to celebrate its 70th Anniversary with a bang. The owners are orchestrating a series of events starting with an expanded Summer Fest 2024.

Seventy years ago, the Cross County Center revolutionized retail as the first large-scale shopping center in Westchester and the country's inaugural open-air shopping destination. It launched with approximately 30 stores. But, it soon housed nearly 100 stores anchored by Gimbels and Wanamaker. In the decades since, it has evolved to its current 80 specialty stores and restaurants–including retail giants like Target and Macy's.

Situated at the crossroads of Cross County Parkway and I-82, the center draws over 14 million visitors annually.

    Seventy Years of Shopping

The 70th anniversary celebrations will commence on Saturday, May 18 at 12 p.m. They offer visitors a nostalgic journey back to 1954, the year when Cross County Center made history as the nation's first open-air shopping center. The day will be filled with entertainers, selfie stations representing different eras, and even a Pop-Up Roller Skating Rink on The Green. The event, free to the public, will run from 12-3 p.m., with a rain date scheduled for Sunday, May 19.

    • Free Zumba classes
    • Paint & sip nights
    • Free Concerts
    • Outdoor Trivia Nights
    • Free Yoga Classes on The Green

As Cross County Center embarks on its 70th anniversary celebrations, visitors can relive cherished memories while creating new ones amidst this historic shopping destination.
