New Deputy Sheriffs Gain Tools to Serve at Penn State-Run Academy
After 19 weeks of training, 35 newly hired deputy sheriffs from counties around the commonwealth will return to their home communities prepared to serve after completing the Penn State-run Pennsylvania Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff Education and Training Program. The class will graduate at 11 a.m. Friday, May 17 in Deans Hall of the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center. 'Future Focus Fair' in York gears young residents towards employment opportunities
YORK, Pa. — The first-ever Future Focus Fair was held in York on Wednesday, which helped gear younger residents of the city toward job opportunities and education. The event was organized by The Program "It's About Change" and served as a job fair with local employers such as Sheetz, GIANT, the York Police Department and the Pennsylvania National Guard.
Owner of dog day care in Lancaster County charged in death of animal
A woman who runs a Columbia pet daycare center let a foster dog in her care die after an attack while she tried to figure out what to do, according to the Pennsylvania SPCA. Investigators charged Caitlin Michelle Perry, 30, of Houston Street, with aggravated cruelty to animals by causing serious bodily injury or death, torture and a related charge in connection with a Nov. 4 dog-on-dog attack at the animal day care that she runs out of her home, Wiggle Butts Co.
York man sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for attempting to traffic cocaine
HARRISBURG, Pa. — A York man was sentenced to 30 months in jail for conspiring and attempting to traffic cocaine. The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Marcos Fernandez Rivera, 27, of York, was sentenced yesterday to 2.5 years by U.S. District Judge Christopher C. Conner.

Millersville man arrested for allegedly entering school bus, threatening driver
LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A Millersville man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly threatening a school bus driver. According to the Millersville Borough Police Department, Angel Sanchez-Abreu, 31, entered a school bus without permission and threatened the driver using "vulgar language" as children were being dropped off at a stop.
