    Grant County Sheriff's Office searching for information on rape case, suspect known to frequent Yakima

    GRANT CO., Wash. -- Grant County Sheriff's Office is searching for more information on 41-year-old Isidro Cruz-Amaro, of Mattawa and believe there are more victims that haven't come forward. It is also known Cruz-Amaro frequents the Yakima area.

    Isidro Cruz-Amaro, or "Junior" was the owner of R Place Tavern in Desert Aire and is currently in custody. Police said Cruz-Amaro was arrested and booked on suspicion of second degree rape.

    According to detectives, on February 9-10 of 2021, Amaro drove an intoxicated woman to a Desert Aire home and allegedly raped her. Detectives said Amaro denied any sexual contact with the woman but DNA collected from the woman was a match.

    GCSO said Desert Aire is a popular spot for people to purchase vacation homes and people from western Washington visit often. Deputies are concerned local residents or travelers visited the R Place Tavern and could have been a victim in this case.

    According to GCSO, Amaro is currenting booked in the Grant County Jail and his bail is set for $100,000. He was previously in the Yakima County Jail for an incident in May of 2023; he was in the Yakima County Jail on charges of communicating with minors for immoral purposes, luring and commercial sex abuse after offering two Moxee teens money for sex.

    Anyone who has information about Isidro Cruz-Amaro is asked to call the Grant County Sheriff’s Office at 509-762-1160 regarding case number 21GS01641.
