Expect traffic delays on Nob Hill Boulevard through late summer due to road project

YAKIMA, Wash. — Drivers can expect traffic delays on Nob Hill Boulevard through late summer as construction crews work to grind off the old, deteriorated asphalt and replace it with new asphalt.

The project area will stretch down at least 12 blocks of the roadway from 16th Avenue to Third Avenue and will result in delays and possible detours.

However, City of Yakima spokesperson Randy Beehler said drivers shouldn't have to face a full road closure.

“There may be occasional closures of small sections to allow for the movement of equipment or that kind of thing, but there will always be access to the roadway, at least one lane in each direction," Beehler said.

Beehler said the cost estimate for the project is $1.25 million, most of which is coming from the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board. He said the city is also contributing money from its utility fund.

Crews will be active from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and construction is expected to continue through late summer.
