One Dead, Three Injured Including 12-Year-Old Girl in Domestic Shooting in Oak Forest, Chicago Suburb
Tragedy struck a quiet enclave in the southwest Chicago suburbs on Sunday as one person was killed and three others, including a 12-year-old girl, were wounded in what police are calling a domestic incident in Oak Forest. According to reports by CBS, the gunfire erupted at 5:10 p.m. in the 5500 block of Babette Court, a cul-de-sac off Central Avenue, leaving a 39-year-old man shot in the head. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital. A 19-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman also found at the scene were treated for leg wounds, with the woman remaining in the hospital.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Lincoln Park Zoo's African lion cub, Lomelok, has taken new steps in his recovery after back surgery.Lomelok is gradually being reintroduced to his littermates.The 1-year-old lion was born with a spinal issue that has affected his mobility. He had surgery last month to fix a slipped disc in his back.The zoo said Lomelok has reconnected with one of his littermates, Pesho.Lincoln Park Zoo chose Pesho as the first lion to reintroduce Lomelok to, because of Pesho's mellow behavior.Lomelok, meaning sweet, is one of three lion cubs born at the zoo last year along with Pesho, which means unexpected gift, and Sidai, which means good food or good lion. The zoo expects Lomelok and Pesho to remain together if everything continues to go smoothly. It's not yet clear when Lomelok will be reintroduced to Sidai and his older brother, Pilipili.
Woman dead, 2 children ejected after SUV crashes into pole near Calumet River
CHICAGO (CBS) —A woman died and two children were ejected after her SUV hit a pole near the Calumet River Monday morning. Police said a 5-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy were ejected from the SUV just after 2:30 a.m. in the 3000 block of East 106th Street. The woman died at the scene, police said. Police said a man, who has not been identified, found both of the children and took them to a hospital in Indiana. They were taken to Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.

CHICAGO (CBS) — A man was arrested after police said he pushed a security guard down two flights of stairs at a CTA station early Monday morning.According to Chicago police, just before 2 a.m., the man tried to jump a turnstile, in the 500 block of North State Street when he pushed the 28-year-old private security guard down the stairs. The security guard was not injured.

CHICAGO - A Chicago woman was found guilty Monday of killing her landlord and dismembering her body at an apartment in West Rogers Park in 2022. A Cook County jury convicted Sandra Kolalou on all counts, including first-degree murder and concealment of a homicide. The jury got the case around 2:08 p.m. Monday and a verdict was announced before 10 p.m. the same day.
