The death of a Woodcliff Lake man prompted state lawmakers to introduce a new bill that hopes to address overdose deaths.

The bill would require schools in New Jersey to teach students about the dangers of fentanyl. “Max’s Law” is named in honor of 25-year-old Max Lenowitz, who died of fentanyl poisoning after taking a counterfeit Xanax pill.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that more than 150 people die every day from overdoses related to synthetic opioids like fentanyl.
