WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Authorities say seven NJ Transit bus passengers reportedly sustained minor injuries when the coach veered off Port Reading Avenue and ended up in a grassy ditch near Prologis Pond.

The mishap occurred on Tuesday evening along Port Reading Avenue, as commuter Bus 48 from Perth Amboy to Elizabeth, swerved off the road and bottomed-out in the ditch after allegedly colliding with two other vehicles, authorities said.

Firefighters from the Port Reading Fire Company and EMTs responded to the scene where seven of the 16 passengers, including the driver, reportedly complained of scrapes and pain.

It is not known if the drivers of a white Ford commercial van or a badly-damaged black sedan, both involved in the accident, also sustained injuries. Specific details were not available.

Most of the people involved were treated at the scene, and a few were taken to an area hospital to be evaluated and treated, authorities said.

NJ Transit police and Woodbridge authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
