A Wood Village city councilor resigned from her position to focus on health and family.

Lynnea Amend stepped down from Position 5 after she ran unopposed for the seat during the 2022 election.

In addition to her duties on council, Amend served on the city’s Parks Commission and was a common sight at community events. She was known for taking daily walks in Donald Robertson Park and the community to connect with her constituents.

“I enjoyed my time on the council and with all of you,” Amend wrote. “I learned so much and felt so welcomed and cared for by our community.”

Now the city is seeking someone to fill the vacancy and serve the remainder of her term, which expires December 31 of this year. The position will officially be up for reelection this November.

Anyone interested in applying can do so by filling out a form online at woodvillageor.gov/city-council or by getting a paper application at City Hall by May 31. Interviews for the role will be held during the June 11 council meeting.

Candidates must be an eligible voter and have lived within the city for at least one year as of June 11. Councilors serve as volunteers without pay, and make policity decisions that affect the entire community. They also approve the yearly work plan, work closely with city departments like Parks and the Planning Commission. The council meets twice a month on the second and fourth Tuesday.

Someone who is selected to serve in the interim is not prevented from running for the role this fall.
