Sunrise Service

The Winterville Ministerial Alliance will sponsor Easter Sunrise Services at 6 a.m. Sunday at Haddocks Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 1548 Ivy Road, Winterville. The sermon will be delivered by Rev. C.E. Cunningham of Mount Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

Bird Club

Guest speaker Robert Driver will present, “English bird names: past, present and moving forward,” at the next Bird Club meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the theater at River Park North, 1000 Mumford Road. American robin, turkey vulture, eastern bluebird — birders reference English bird names every day, but do we think about where the names came from? The program will look at changes to English bird names in the past, as well as recent changes to names from the American Ornithological Society. This includes the removal of people’s names from the names of birds. All meetings are free and open to the public. For more information call 413-8292 or email asnakeman@hotmail.com.

Newcomers Club

The April meeting of the Newcomers Club of Greenville will be held on April 10, beginning with a social time at 11:30. A buffet lunch will begin at noon at Brook Valley Country Club, 311 Oxford Road, Greenville. Cost is $25 and is payable at the door. Reservations are required and should be made on or before 6 p.m. April 4 by emailing newcomersclubofgnc@gmail.com. You don’t have to be “new” to join the group. The program will be presented by Kim Waters, local beekeeper, who will discuss the importance of bees to the environment. The club also will be collecting donations of large cans of vegetables and fruits for The Joy Soup Kitchen.

Rabies vaccinations

Pitt County Animal Services (PCAS) in partnership with the City of Greenville APS and SPAY Today will offer a free rabies vaccination clinic for dogs and cats from 2-6 p.m. on April 7 at the Winterville Community Rural Volunteer Fire Department, 2564 Mill St., Winterville. The clinic will have free rabies vaccinations for 500 pets, offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Dogs must be leashed and cats must be in carriers

Campfire Cookout

Join the Boy Scouts of America East Carolina Council for their Campfire Cookout from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at The Cotton Barn, 942 Laurie Ellis Road, Winterville, on Thursday, April 11. They will have food, an outdoorsman auction, entertainment, and campfire cooking demos. Purchase tickets at https://e.givesmart.com/events/Byg/. Proceeds benefit Scout programing.

Mediation Center fundraiser

The Mediation Center of Eastern Carolina will host its 35th annual fundraiser from 6-8 p.m.April 12, at the Pitt Greenville Airport, 400 Airport Road, Greenville. Celebrate the center’s continued service to the community while raising funds for Teen Court, Empowerment, Man Up, and more. The event will include heavy Hors D’oeuvres, a DJ dancing, and a program presentation. Get tickets at www.eventbrite.com/e/mcec.
