A medical boutique to fit prosthetics and compression garments for post-breast surgery patients will pop up in Wimberley at Body Insight, 101 FM3237, from April 23 through April 25.
Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapist Alaria Godwin of Body Insight has teamed up with Second Silhouette of Houston for the three-day event.
Angie Bullington and Danine Harden, Certified Fitters of Mastectomy, or CFMs, will travel from their Houston location to provide services to post surgical patients in Wimberley.
“People who need these specialized services usually have to travel to Austin, San Antonio or further away. After talking with Alaria, we decided to bring our products and services to them,” said Danine Harden, who with partner Angie Bul-lington, has owned and operated Second Silhouette for 21 years. “We knew there was a need for this, but we didn’t know how great the need was.”
Some physicians, according to Harden, are mistakenly telling patients to buy compression garments on Amazon. “This is something you should not be ordering from Amazon,” she said.
The pop up boutique will operate much like their office in Houston. “When you come to Second Silhouette, you’ll see that it resembles a doctor’s office. We have a beautiful showroom and personal dressing rooms for patients. At Body Insight we’ll recreate our showroom and welcome clients into private offices.”
After setting an appointment, including an intake conversation to pull together medicare and insurance paperwork, clients will be evaluated, scanned and measured for the garments and prosthetics they require. Patients typically receive compression garments seven to ten days afterwards. Custom molded products take about six weeks to arrive. As of January 1, according to Godwin, Medicare and many insurance companies now cover one to three sets of daytime wear garments every six months and two sets of nighttime garments every two years. Approximately 30 appointments will be available during the three-day event.
