WILLISTON, ND ( KXNET ) — On Tuesday evening, April 30, voters in Williston will be choosing a new representative to send to the capitol next winter.

A special election is happening to fill the vacancy left by representative Scott Dyk after he resigned on April 7th.

Dyk was elected to the seat in 2022. Under state law, a district committee must meet within three weeks of getting notice of a vacancy to appoint a person to take over, or state leaders may appoint someone to the seat.

The election will happen at the District 23 Republican meeting at Eagle Ridge Golf Course in Williston.

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. To vote, you must be a member of the District 23 Republican party.

District 23 will not be on this year’s general election ballot in North Dakota.
