Former Woodstock Officer Charged with Involuntary Manslaughter After Fatal Pursuit
A former Woodstock police officer is facing charges of involuntary manslaughter for the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man following a police pursuit in October 2023. According to WSB-TV, the officer, identified as Grant Matthew Shaw, turned himself in to authorities yesterday after a grand jury indictment was issued. Shaw's arrest was confirmed by jail records, which showed he was booked into Cobb County Jail around 10 a.m.
Broken Bridge at Kennesaw Mountain Park Replaced
A broken bridge on a Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park trail has been replaced, making the path once again safe for use. The footbridge on the 24-Gun Battery Trail was destroyed last week after a tree fell on it. For the last six days, the park has advised users to avoid crossing at the point, located west of Old Mountain Road. In a Wednesday Facebook post, the park announced a new bridge had been constructed and was ready for visitor use. "Throwing out a huge thank you to our rockstar maintenance team for making it happen," the post reads.
Blalock Road Recycling Center Service Will Be Interrupted April 26 to May 7
