WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — A special conference is being held in Wheeling the next two days to discuss various aspects of manufacturing and energy industries in West Virginia.
The West Virginia Manufacturers Association is hosting its annual Manufacturing and Energy Growth Summit at Oglebay’s Wilson Lodge today and tomorrow.
The event brings together industry leaders and professionals from across the region to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities within the manufacturing and energy industries.
Dr. John Deskins from WVU’s Bureau of Business and Economic Research spoke at the conference today about things like employment and unemployment rates as well as how many more jobs are estimated to come to the state.

Those in attendance also had the opportunity to talk with various other local industries on how they can better economic development in the state.
Dr. Deskins says it is important to continue talking about the various changes within the energy sector throughout the state so they can continue to provide resources for the people of West Virginia.
