Vandals strike Miracle League Baseball Field for second time in six months

OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) — A local baseball field that hosts games for people with mental and physical disabilities has been vandalized for the second time in less than six months.

The Miracle League baseball field at the J.B. Chambers Sports Complex in Wheeling was once again broken into over the weekend.

The field’s concession stand was vandalized in December when the league found its windows shattered open with glass everywhere.

After boarding the windows in December, the league discovered this weekend that the wood had now been broken as if someone was trying to get into the concession stand building again.

The President of the League says her biggest concern is the safety of the players as their baseball season begins.

We need to figure out what do we do to protect this field so that we can’t get more vandalism happening. We’re patiently waiting for things to happen, but we can’t wait so long that more vandalism happens. This is a field for special needs people. Why pick on them?”
