WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) – Think Pink, a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness, and WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital came together on Wednesday to celebrate a donation of $50,000 dollars.

The funds will go towards wigs, head coverings, prescriptions and gas cards for transportation between appointments.

Jess Rine, Associate Vice President of Foundations for WVU Medicine, says the financial burden that goes along with treatment can be tough, but this donation is a relief for patients, families, and staff.

“The fact that these volunteers put their time in to raise money for this project, women’s health, breast cancer awareness and breast cancer patients is really really special and has a huge impact here on the patients at our hospital.”

“And it’s all because of the community and our amazing team that we’re able to do this.”

Think Pink will be hosting their next benefit dinner in October of this year to continue to raise funds for breast cancer patients and survivors.
