WHITMAN -- At the end of a unbearably sad week, the Whitman-Hanson High girls lacrosse team found something, however small, to feel good about. A playoff win might not mean all that much, given the depth of the Panthers' grief, but they did muster a muted celebration following Saturday night's 15-6 conquest of Amherst-Pelham Regional in the Division 2 preliminary round.
Worcester siblings convicted of setting fire to occupied Plymouth County home
A brother and sister have been convicted on charges that they set fire to an occupied Plymouth County home, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced. After a 10-day trial in Brockton Superior Court, a jury found 26-year-old Jonathan Jironvil of Worcester guilty of three counts each of Attempted Murder, Malicious Destruction of Property and Witness Intimidation. His sister, 27-year-old Lucnalie Jironvil of Amherst, was convicted of three counts of Attempted Murder, and one count each of Arson and Malicious Destruction of Property. Sentencing will occur on Thursday, June 22, 2023, in Brockton Superior Court.

Boston Police report they are looking for a limping guy they say robbed a woman about to enter the Zion Apostolic Church, 241 Blue Hill Ave. in Roxbury, last Sunday. Police say that the man managed to grab a chain from the woman's neck - which included her late husband's wedding band - but that she fought off his effort to also grab her purse. He then fled down Maywood Street, police say.

ABINGTON - A suspect is under arrest after a stabbing at an Abington liquor store Friday evening.It happened at around 5 p.m. at Rosie's Liquors on Bedford Street. Police found a 61-year-old man with several stab wounds. Police said he provided a description of his attacker before he was taken to the hospital.Devon Pelrine, 26, was taken into custody a short time later.
