MANCHESTER, Conn. — Story by Liliana Hernandez and Kaylee Cormier, Manchester High School. The new policy implementing Yondr pouches, requires all kids to store their phones during school hours. A Yondr pouch is a small, lockable fabric pouch designed to temporarily store electronic devices. While some students and teachers appreciate the initiative to minimize distractions and enhance focus in the classroom, others have concerns about the potential challenges and push back from students who are accustomed to daily screen time. Students are also worried when it comes to not having communication during an emergency. Through all this controversy this news story aims to highlight all of the effects from the Yondr pouches on Illing middle school’s students, teachers, and overall community.
