Chinook season May 24-June 14 on Lookingglass Creek
LA GRANDE — A fishing season for spring chinook salmon will open May 24 on Lookingglass Creek, a tributary to the Grande Ronde River at Palmer Junction north of Elgin. The season will continue through June 14. The stream is open from its mouth to the confluence with Jarboe Creek.
PPD breaks up an alleged burglary ring
PENDLETON – Umatilla County Deputy District Attorney Jameson Hayes says three men have been charged by a grand jury for running a complex burglary and theft ring in the city of Pendleton over the last few months. The three are now facing multiple felony charges and being held in Umatilla County Jail.

Police Jail Hermiston Man for Alleged Domestic Violence Attack
A Hermiston man is in the Umatilla County Jail on several domestic violence related counts, including strangulation and sexual assault. Hermiston police Wednesday evening, May 8, arrested Cesar Macias Delatorre, 47, in relation to a May 1 attack on an adult in his household, according to state court records. The Umatilla County Distrct Attorney’s Office on May 9 brought eight preliminary charges against Delatorre: one count each of unlawful use of a weapon and menacing and two counts each of strangulation, fourth-degree assault and second-degree sexual abuse.
