One killed, one hospitalized in Utica crash
UTICA — One person was killed and another hospitalized when a car struck two pedestrians on Genesee Street in Utica Friday evening, according to the Utica Police Department. Police said the vehicle was crossing from Court Street to Hopper Street at about 6:30 p.m. Friday when it struck two pedestrians, who were walking southbound on Genesee and crossing Hopper. The intersection is controlled by four-way traffic lights, with crosswalks clearly marked. The speed limit is 30 mph.
Weekly Safety Report: Burglaries, Car Thefts, and House Fire hit Bridgewater
Two men have been charged with multiple burglaries and car thefts in Bridgewater, New York. Nicholas Soto, 31, and Daniel Murray, 25, were caught on surveillance cameras stealing items from cars in the Bradly Gardens area. Six motor vehicle burglaries were reported, all without forced entry. In another incident, a house fire on Horseshoe Drive caused significant damage to a mobile home. The fire was caused by a wood stove and the resident was unharmed. The Bridgewater Fire Department, along with assistance from West Winfield and Clayville fire departments, responded to the scene.
