ST. PAUL, Minn. – A 52-year-old man suspected of car theft is in custody after he fled police by going into the Mississippi River in St. Paul.St. Paul police say officers spotted a vehicle on Grand Avenue near Chatsworth Street just before noon Tuesday that was reported stolen in Minneapolis.The driver fled the area, and officers didn't give chase. Later in the afternoon, members of the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office saw the vehicle and tailed it. But the driver stopped on the 600 block of Mississippi River Boulevard, got out of the vehicle and ran to the river.Fire crews from St. Paul and Minneapolis used rescue boats to search for the suspect, and they were eventually able to get him out of the river.The man was taken to HCMC in Minneapolis to be evaluated. Once released, he will be brought to the Ramsey County Jail.

Juan Jose Jimenez-Alarcon, 30, was killed in the Saturday night incident.

Police say one person was critically injured in the crash and another was killed. Alcohol impairment is believed to play a role in this crash. A 53-year-old female from Menomonie WI was taken into custody on probable cause criminal vehicular operation.

MINNEAPOLIS – New video shows tense moments for a Minnesota State Patrol trooper Monday morning on the side of Interstate 94 in Minneapolis. The state patrol says the trooper stopped to help a driver during the morning rush hour near the Lowry Tunnel, but the driver started to fight.  MnDOT cameras show the trooper and driver tussling on the ground. The driver then takes off running into traffic and is nearly struck by passing vehicles. He manages to flag down a car, hop in the passenger side window, and take off.Investigators are still working to figure out the driver's identity. Nobody was hurt.

STILLWATER, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Corrections has made its first transfer of a transgender person to a facility that matches their gender identity.Christina Lusk, 57, has been serving her sentence for drug crimes at the Moose Lake men's facility since 2018. Police say it appeared a pick-up truck was headed northbound on Concord Street when he was hit head-on by a southbound minivan that had gone over the center lane.
