    Miami Grand Prix: Miami, West Palm Beach help ABC set Formula 1 U.S. ratings record

    With viewership in Miami/Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach helping lead the way, ABC’s telecast of Sunday’s Miami Grand Prix drew the largest audience in the U.S. for a live Formula 1 race with an average of 3.1 million viewers, ESPN said Tuesday.

    Miami’s WPLG-Channel 10 had the best rating in the U.S., 3.37, followed by Fort Myers (3.09) and Richmond, Virginia, (2.91). West Palm Beach’s WPBF-Channel 25 came in seventh (2.67) and Orlando was ninth at 2.42.

    Lando Norris beat favorite Max Verstappen to claim his first F1 win.

    The three runnings of the Miami Grand Prix now represent the three biggest live audiences for F1 races in the U.S.

    Viewership peaked at 3.6 million. Saturday’s sprint race averaged 946,000 viewers on ESPN.

    Average ratings for the top 10 local markets:

    1. Miami/Fort Lauderdale (3.37), 2. Fort Myers (3.09), 3. Richmond, Va. (2.91), 4. Louisville (2.90), 5. Columbus, Ohio (2.82), 6. Cleveland (2.70), 7. West Palm Beach (2.67), 8. Indianapolis (2.46), 9. Orlando (2.42), 10. (tie) Dayton, Ohio, and Las Vegas (2.30).

    Organizers announced the three-day attendance of a record 275,799. The sold-out crowd represented an increase of more than 5,000 from last year and 45,000 from the inaugural running in 2022.

    Dolphins players in attendance were Jalen Ramsey, Raheem Mostert, Bradley Chubb, Jaelan Phillips, Terron Armstead and Jevon Holland.
