Law Enforcement & Paramedics Prepare For SunFest

Palm Beach County's largest annual music festival gets underway at 5 p.m. and local law enforcement and paramedics have been preparing to keep everyone safe.

The potential for drug use is a concern, especially with the deadly fentanyl being found in several types of street drugs.

That's why West Palm Beach Police Spokesman Mike Jachles says officers carry Narcan, which reverses the effects of an overdose, and he says it's saved a number of lives.

"We've used this countless times. Many of our officers have administered it on scene before the paramedics get there."

Jachles tells CBS 12 News that the police department will also be utilizing its Real-Time Crime Center to tap into live video feeds from city-owned surveillance cameras.

Theft has been an issue at SunFest in the past, particularly involving wallets and cell phones stolen right out of pants pockets.

West Palm Beach Police urges attendees to access the Safer Watch app , which allows you to easily report suspicious activity and the information goes directly to law enforcement.

SunFest runs along Flagler Drive on the West Palm Beach Waterfront through Sunday.
