Study: Brevard ranks among USA's most dangerous metropolitan area for pedestrian safety
Brevard County ranked among the country’s deadliest metro areas for people walking, according to a study released Thursday by Smart Growth America. Brevard ranked No. 11 among the country's 100 largest metropolitan areas. The “Dangerous by Design” ranking was based on pedestrian deaths per 100,000 residents over the five-year timeframe from 2018-2022. The year 2022 is the most recent year available for nationwide data on pedestrian fatalities that can be broken down by localities and compared with census tracts.
